A little longer than a year ago I started the Bikini Body Guide created by Kaila Itsines. I reaaaally liked the guides and started seeing results right away, even though I was a bit lazy and didn’t follow everything the way I should. One of the best things I learned with the BBG was the HIIT (high intensity interval training), which is any workout that alternates between intense exercise and less-intense or rest. For example, what I do is: After I walk a little bit on the treadmill to warm up, I set the speed to 8.5 m/h and run for 30 sec followed by 30 seconds rest. I simply step away from the treadmill for the rest time, and then jump back in do the intensive running for another 30 sec until I reach 15 min.
I have a pretty busy schedule and that’s one of the reasons why this type of training works so well for me, because I can do 15 min 3 times a week and see great results. And another advantage is that I can actually burn more by doing 15 min of HIIT than running in a regular pace. Now that I just got back from a trip to Brazil where I ate sooo much, HIIT is the best way to lose the extra pounds I that I gained.
Of course it isn’t easy to run that fast in the beginning, but you can slowly peek up your pace until you are ready for it. The results are worth it!
What are you waiting to start HIIT?
